Automations
Schedule report delivery, alerts, and digests — then monitor next run, last run, and history.
What automations do
Automations run on a schedule or trigger rules for your project. Common types include scheduled reports, threshold / offline / spike alerts, device online checks, and exception or consumption digests.
Open Automations from the project menu. Cards show Active or Paused status, type, schedule summary, next run, and last run.
Automation types
Report automations generate a PDF from a report template on a daily, weekly, monthly, or custom RRULE cadence, then deliver by email when configured.
Alert automations watch devices or metrics (threshold, offline, spike, online check) and notify via in-app notifications and optional email.
Digest automations summarise exceptions or consumption for a period and send a grouped update.
Create an automation
Use Quick Automation to pick a category and complete a short wizard, or Advanced for full control.
For reports: choose the report template, timezone-aware start time, recurrence, and delivery (recipients, groups, attach PDF).
- Go to Automations → Quick Automation (or Advanced).
- Select Report, Alert, or Digest.
- Configure source, schedule, and delivery.
- Save, then confirm the card shows Active and a sensible Next run.
Monitor and test
Filter by Status (Active / Paused) and Type, or search by name. Open an automation for run history and links to generated reports.
Run test now executes the automation without waiting for the next scheduled time (useful to verify email and PDF). Pause stops future runs without deleting the configuration.
Failed runs surface error detail in history and may email admins so you can fix template, recipients, or data issues.
- Next run is stored in UTC and shown in the automation’s timezone.
- Realtime dashboards may not support every automation entry point — prefer report templates for scheduled PDFs.
